So after the final pour of the foundation the framing crew started to attach the ledger boards to the tie beams. This brings us up to 25 October!   6x6 cypress supports for the porch.

So now the concrete blocks need to be set and tied to the foundation with rebar then poured with concrete. Then the horizontal tie beam forms need to be made and those poured.   Now for the horizontal tie beams!   Lots of steel!

So on the 29th of September the concrete trucks showed up! And they kept coming!     This initial pour consisted of 110 cubic yards of concrete!

Well in September the foundation was started. The crew started the excavation and it actually started to look like a building site! It was amazing how much steel is going into the foundation.   And we are ready for the concrete!  

Well I didn't accomplish as much as I had originally expected to do over the course of the summer. I really expected that the building permit would have been issued by the end of May. It wasn't issued until the 6th of July. So what did we get accomplished this summer? Well a lot of clearing. I had the pleasure to get to know Rodger and Audrey my neighbors to the south. They are excellent neighbors. Friendly, helpful and were anxious to have some of their property cleared too. So I cleared father back than was required for building. It helped Rodger and Audrey out as well as myself. I personally cleared a lot on the river side. Dropping Pepper Trees as well as cutting up dead Australian Pines. Good progress but still a lot to do. I did put in steel fence posts along the northern property line and ran a couple strands of wire to delineate it. 16 June 2018 So after much delay, Saul was able to resume clearing this morning. What Saul was able to do in 5 1/2 hours is amazing. I must have said amazing to myself 100 times watching him. He definitely earned his money. He took one break of maybe 10 minutes. The pictures show before he started, after one hour, two hours and at the end of the day. Unbelievable the transformation of the property! He will come back hopefully this Saturday and remove the trees on the North side of the property. And he will bush hog the grass afterwards.  Took Saul about 10 mins to get this Pepper Tree out! One hour of working!    The entire right side was cleared in about 4 hours.
